55,800 trade visitors: High attendance from abroad
Over the four days of the trade fair 55,800 trade visitors came to gather information on the latest trends in the areas of occupational safety, health promotion and security management at work from the 1,541 exhibitors from 62 nations. This is a new record high in the history of the event. Almost one in four visitors came from abroad. Growing attendance was registered particularly from non-European countries such as those in South America.

The A+A: International Event and Congress
At the A+A trade fair exhibitors showcase every 2 years the entire cross-section of products and services for personal protection and the realisation of smooth-running, health-retaining business processes. The event is accompanied by an international high-calibre congress which welcomed about 5,000 participants in 2009.

The Seoul Declaration on Safety and Health at Work
The European Forum for the Seoul Declaration on Safety and Health was held 4 November 2009 at the A+A Conference in Dusseldorf, Germany. High-level representatives from public administrations, occupational safety and health networks and the business community joined forces to promote a worldwide prevention culture by signing the Düsseldorf Statement in support of the Seoul Declaration.

The global financial crisis will have a profound effect on the world of work. The International ILO Safety Conference in Düsseldorf will bring together 300 participants from 60 countries around the world during the A+A Trade Fair to discuss the potential impacts of the global economic crisis on safety and health at workplaces
It is now more important than ever to strengthen tripartite efforts behind promoting safety and health at work and ensuring the proper implementation of occupational safety and health standards.
